Thoughts Going Into College
That’s right, you heard it here first folks! Your girl is going to college! I’ll be keeping my institution to myself for privacy reasons but I’m very excited! I’m going to get my degree in Mass Communications. I was gonna go for journalism, but I want to keep my options open just in case. (Like I’d ever give up on NASCAR but just to be safe I’ll have a backup plan)
I’m not all that nervous, I guess? Going into High School was another story, many late nights not being able to sleep, lots of nervous stomach aches, … but that’s a-whole-nother thing. The only thing I can think of that I’m worried about for college is the workload and having to travel to the campus to take my math tests. Which is fine by me, and I’ll get over that after doing it once or twice.
I’m continuing my online education this term and taking a couple of my general classes. Biology, History, English Composition and this fancy math sounding course called Quantitative Reasoning or something. I’ve been told by two academic advisors that it just sounds complicated but we’ll see how that goes.
I have to admit, it’s kind of hard to see lots of my friends posting about where they’re going to college and all the fun ‘dorm moving in day!’ posts… but overall I’m really happy for them. I’ve got some friends who did stick close to home so it’s not like everybody is gone.
I’ve already taken one online course during the summer. It was one of those introductory courses where it teaches you how everything works and where to locate any help you might need. Whether that be on the student website or by contacting a professor/advisor.
At first I was pretty skeptical about the class but it ended up being a lot of fun and it wasn’t too bad. It also helps that I got a credit for it since I took a faster version of the class or something like that. I mean I’m not complaining. One credit down, sixty-one to go.
For the most part, I don’t think much is going to change. I’ll still be sitting on my computer working (whether that be school, NASCAR or blogging), drinking water and eating Nissin spicy instant noodles.
Good luck to all of my friends and any of you who are going into college this fall! Let’s make it a good one!
